Build your own four-paragraph plan
Write a position, two reasons, a concrete example for each reason, and a concluding sentence. Use notes or full sentences; do not write the full essay yet.
Some people believe that university education should be free for all students. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Compare with a worked example
Position: I mostly agree, provided public funding is sustainable.
Reason 1: Tuition fees can prevent capable students from entering university. Example: a low-income student may choose full-time work instead of engineering.
Reason 2: Public services need qualified graduates. Example: more trained nurses can help understaffed hospitals.
Conclusion: Public funding can widen access and support essential services, but places must match the available budget.
Check your work
- A clear, consistent position
- Two distinct reasons
- A relevant example supporting each reason
- A conclusion that follows the plan
